An year back, there was a lot of buzz created by Ringing Bells, who claimed to launch the make-in-India phone, Freedom 251 in the market. Everyone was surprised to hear the price of Rs 251. However, it was a scam and people knew that it was fishy because Ringing Bells stated that around 30,000 customers booked the phone, but in reality there were crores of people who had registered for the same.
Finally, the man behind Ringing Bells, Mohit Goel has been detained. Yes, he was arrested in Ghaziabad, after Ayam Enterprises, a Ghaziabad firm lodged an FIR against Ringing Bells.
Well, the company had done a fraud of Rs 16 lakhs with Ayam Enterprises.
What exactly happened?
Manish Mishra, the Deputy SP of Ghaziabad stated that they have detained Mohit for interrogation. In the FIR, Ayam Enterprises stated that Goel had convinced their company to take up distributorship of those phones; this had happened somewhere in the month of November (2015).
Ayam Enterprises paid around Rs 30 lakhs to Goel’s company, but in return they got products just worth Rs 13 lakhs. After constant follow ups, they could get back just Rs 14 lakhs (Products & money). 16 lakhs are still with Goel; on asking the money, Ringing Bells gave them death threats.
