Recently, rumours were doing rounds that Salman Khan is still miffed with playback singer Arijit Singh and for the same, he has deliberately threatened producers of “Welcome To New York” to replace Arijit in the flick with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Just to inform, Salman is playing a cameo in the multi-starrer film which also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Diljit Dosanjh, Karan Johar, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Boman Irani, Rana Daggubati and Sushant Singh Rajput.
You must have remembered the heartfelt letter that Arijit posted on Facebook and apologised to Salman, pleading to retain his version of Jag Ghoomeya in “Sultan” but later on, his voice was replaced with that of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and in “Tiger Zinda Hai” too, Atif Aslam got to sing Dil Diyan Gallan in place of Arijit.
Subsequently, some reports suggested that Salman is making sure that Arijit doesn’t sing a single track in his movies, no matter whether he has just a cameo in it. However, it seems that there’s no truth in these reports.
As per BollywoodLife, a source refused the involvement of Salman in this regard. Here’s what the source told,
“One needs to get this right that Welcome To New York is not Salman’s film. He just has one special appearance in the film so why will he even get into the music space? He himself is surprised after reading these baseless reports. Maybe Arijit could have lost out on the song because of his own monetary differences with the producers. After all, it’s the producers who take the final call.”
This is what Chakri Toleti, director of “Welcome To New York” had to say in this connection,
“We are yet to decide on what to do. There have been films (with Pakistani singers), which have managed to go by without any hassle. There needs to be a balance between social responsibility and creative freedom. But people shouldn’t have to compromise on artistic liberties.”
Let’s see what Arijit’s reaction to the entire controversy will be; however, it’s sad to know how Salman was dragged into the controversy and many slammed him including Babul Supriyo, saying that he prefers Pak singers to the Indian artists.
