Today eliminator was played between Kolkata Knight Riders & Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. KKR had advantage of home ground in this match.
RR after winning the toss decided to field first. This decision proved to be correct when RR took 3 quick wickets of KKR and at one stage left them at 24/3 in 3.4 overs. Karthik, Shubham Gill & Lynn’s inning during middle overs and then Russel’s finishing helped KKR post a respectable total. KKR scored 169/7 at the end of 20 overs. This total wasn’t bad considering the fact that they lost 3 quick wickets. Once again KKR’s depth in batting was tested and it proved their worth.
RR in return scored 87/1 in 10 overs. Match was pretty much in favor of RR because they required only 83 to win in last 10 overs with 9 wickets in hand.
Rahane scored 37 runs in first 30 balls and in next 11 balls he could only score 7 runs. Eventually he got out at 46 runs in 41 balls. This shot up the required run rate from 8.3 to 10 and then wickets started falling down and RR was never in the game. KKR easily won the match by 25 runs.
RR was at pretty good state to win the match but Twitter thinks Rahane’s slow innings costed RR a match.
