PM Mod’s shocking ban on high-value notes has hit the chests of his rival and this will surely reflect in the elections next year. Every now and then, there are accusations against his strike and this might reduce the chances of his party’s win in the elections.
Latest one to create a controversy is Ashok Gehlot, the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan. He asked PM Modi to honestly tell, if he used black money or white money to be elected to the high office.
Gehlot stated “If you (Modi) can earnestly say that you became the PM using white money, we will accept whatever you tell. Otherwise, you should adopt the five-point agenda given by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to combat corruption.”
He listed down the steps Sonia Gandhi had announced to tackle black money and corruption at the Burari convention in December 2010. Gehlot slammed Modi government and suggested the use of these steps instead;
(a)Clear procedures for ensuring transparency in contracts/ procurements and protection to whistleblowers.
(b)Fast tracking corruption cases involving politicians and servants to time bound closures
(c) Ministers at Centre/states and CMs to relinquish discretionary powers (especially in land allocation)
(d) Open and competitive system of exploiting natural resources
(e)state-funding of elections
Further, talking about the relation between elections and black money, he said that political parties accept huge donations for contesting elections and this is the main source of black money generation. According to Gehlot, if this system isn’t changed, ending black money would be impossible. He has a valid point; Government must take all measures for checking the origin of black money and only then, one can put an end to it.
Slamming PM Modi, Gehlot said
“Instead of defaming the entire opposition, the PM should talk to all political parties to jointly decide actions for whipping out black money. If that requires making a new law, it should be done soon, so that the common man is benefitted. I believe this is the right time to work in that direction.”
Controversies just don’t seem to end! Since the time the PM has announced note ban, some or the other opposition party is slamming him and blaming him for all inconvenience caused.
